Friday nights come and go. Some people spend their nights at home alone or with family. But Jan. 13 was no ordinary Friday night. That date is special, and the sorors of Chester Alumnae (PA) Chapter knew it. It is a time to acknowledge and celebrate those who came before.
So on Jan. 13, sorors came together to celebrate the sorority’s beloved Founders and kick off the chapter’s first Silent Party event. How appropriate to host a unique event that would be inclusive of ages. It was a joy seeing guests and sorors from 19 to 70 years old having a great time together. There were three DJs on the deck! Yes, each one spinning various genres of music simultaneously to represent all age groups in the room. Light refreshments were available, a 360-camera in one corner and a DST prop in another for guests to take the photo opportunity of their choice.
News of the event was shared by word of mouth, multiple social media (Facebook, Instagram, chapter website) platforms, and various news outlets. This contributed to yet another sold-out event for the chapter, as it exceeded ticket sales with approximately 264 sold. Although the chapter exceeded its goal of raising $20,000 for the sorority year in November, they continue their efforts toward scholarship and are now more than $25,000 for the year.
