Ring the alarm! Another event and it was lit!

Yes, October is fire safety month. So of course, the Emergency Response Team (ERT) of Chester (PA) Alumnae Chapter partnered with the City of Chester fire department to share knowledge to the community. A mobile education unit was on the premises to provide an interactive experience. Sorors and residents were able to learn how to keep their home fireproof, ways to prevent a fire, proper placement of detectors. They also learned the importance of sleeping with your door closed at night, ways to exit your home if there is a fire and how to guide firefighters to you.

News of the event was shared by word of mouth, multiple social media (Facebook, Instagram, Chapter website) platforms and various news outlets. To reinforce the message to followers there were a couple of exercise fire safety tips videos too. Thirty-seven sorors and 21 community members assembled to improve the safety of their home. Community members were also able to sign up for a carbon monoxide detector to be installed by the Chester Fire Department.
