Columbia Alumnae Helps Sound the Alarm

Submitted by Cindy Douglas

On May 6, the Columbia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. partnered with the Montgomery, Howard & Frederick Chapter of the American Red Cross in the National Sound the Alarm Campaign.

The Sound the Alarm event took place at the Deep Run Park, a mobile home community in Elkridge (Howard County), MD.  The Columbia Alumnae Chapter’s Emergency Response Team contributed to making 72  homes safer with the install of 146 smoke alarms and 408 potential lives saved.  Also, the team educated the families on home fire preparedness and guided each primary household member in developing a home fire escape plan!
