In support of Healthy Heart month during February 2023, the Physical and Mental Health continued with its DeltaCare community signature program to promote the health and wellness of body, mind and spirit, Black Love the Journey continues…

The Journey began Feb. 4, 2023, when the Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter supported the American Heart Association by wearing red on “Go Red for Women Friday.”  On Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, the Physical and Mental Health committee held a dynamic discussion on Zoom that focused on resilience, renewal and restoration. The journey culminated with a physical fitness event at LA Fitness.

The Physical and Mental Health committee of the Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter partnered with a physical fitness club, LA Fitness, located at 2327 Cottman Avenue in Philadelphia. General Manager Marcus Newton opened his facility to the guests and provided each a one-day free guest pass from 8:00am to 7:00 pm. This free guest pass included a tour of the facility, access to all equipment, exercise classes, swimming and sauna privileges and childcare services, if needed. The facility was quite accommodating to the attendees.  Sorors and guests were given priority to attend all work out classes that included cycling, abs strengthening, Zumba and hip-hop cardio.

In addition, the participants received free bottled water and healthy snacks along with heart healthy information supplied by the American Heart Association, Temple Health and the most updated COVID information addressing the discontinuation of COVID services. There were a total of 189 registered participants and 109 attended the event. Of the 109 attendees, 22 were sorors.

The day was very exciting and informative for all participants.
