West Africa Alumnae launches Let’s Get Vaccinated in Ghana

The West Africa Alumnae Chapter (WAAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated in partnership with GA East Municipal Hospital, conducted a vaccination program initiative tagged, “Let’s Get Vaccinated” to offer free COVID-19 vaccinations to the general public on Wednesday, June 29, 2022.

GA East Municipal Hospital in Accra, Ghana is a public multi-disciplinary healthcare facility focusing on the best possible clinical outcomes for patients and their families. Vaccines available included Astra Zeneca, Pfizer, and Jansen for anyone 15+ years old. The vaccination process was safe, quick, and educational, thanks to the phenomenal services and staff at GA East Municipal Hospital.

In the spirit of service, we aim to help local communities in Accra in the fight against Covid-19. The chapter believes vaccination awareness focused on educating the public will help reduce the Covid-19 cases. Their marketing campaign leading up to the community outreach event helped increase awareness of vaccination to minimize and eradicate COVID-19.

The West Africa Alumnae Chapter (WAAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc service area include 15 countries in ECOWAS and is anchored in Nigeria and Ghana. To date, WAAC has contributed to Ghana by donating boreholes for clean water, planting trees, distributing feminine hygiene products, and broadening breast cancer screenings to include efforts in Accra.
